EYE ON CLALLAM: Commissioners to talk sewer construction management Monday

Clallam County commissioners will discuss options for construction management of the Carlsborg sewer Monday.

The work session will begin at 9 a.m. in the commissioners’ boardroom (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

Commissioners also will discuss a proposed performance review of the county administrator.

Other discussion items include a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice and an easement purchase for the Carlsborg sewer project.

A quarterly report from the state Department of Natural Resources will be offered at 1 p.m. Monday.

Commissioners will conduct their regular business meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Agenda items include:

■ A waiver of bid requirement and agreement with Pac-West Machinery for the purchase of two used pneumatic tire compactors

■ An easement purchase for the Carlsborg sewer project.

■ A call for March 29 hearing on proposed amendments to the 10-year Comprehensive Park and Recreation Master Plan.

■ Approval of budget modifications for the week of Feb. 29.

■ Notice that supplemental appropriations will be adopted by resolution March 29.

■ A call for March 29 hearing for debatable budget emergencies.

■ A public hearing for declaring vehicles in the sheriff’s office as surplus and ordering their sale at public auction.

■ Consideration of proposed amendments to county code for general park and fairgrounds rules and regulations.

Port of Port Angeles

Port of Port Angeles commissioners will consider the Platypus marine lease at a morning workshop and a master plan report when it meets in regular session in the afternoon Monday.

The workshop will begin at 9 a.m. in the port administration building at 338 W. First St. The regular meeting will begin at 1 p.m.

During the morning meeting, commissioners also will consider the strategic plan, its customer service policy, log stacker delivery, refreshing the logo and marina revenue.

In the afternoon, it also will hear community partner program presentations.

Port Angeles city

The Port Angeles City Council will consider appointing a three-member panel to review a complaint that Mayor Patrick Downie violated the city code of ethics when it meets Tuesday.

The council will meet at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth St., for its regular meeting. A special meeting is set for 4:30 p.m. at City Hall for training on the Open Public Meetings Act, public records, ethics and the roles and responsibilities of council members.

The complaint was filed against Downie on March 1 by Marolee Smith.

The council also will hear a fluoride ad hoc committee update from council members Sisi Bruch and Brad Collins.

It will conduct a public hearing on an Olympic Medical Center street vacation.

The council also will recognize the winners of the Port Angeles School District’s Martin Luther King Jr. Race Equality Essay Contest.

Earlier in the day, at 2.30 p.m., a panel consisting of Ken Williams, Jerry Dean and William Yucha will review an ethics complaint filed by Our Water, Our Choice! against Deputy Mayor Cherie Kidd and Councilman Dan Gase.

Sequim City Council

The Sequim City Council will conduct a public hearing on a proposed amendment to its fence code when it meets Monday.

The council will meet at 5 p.m. at the Sequim Civic Center, 152 W. Cedar St.

The change would allow chain-link fences that are in earth tones for sports facilities, parks and playgrounds.

The council also will consider an update of goals and the purchase of a dump truck/snowplow.

Forks City Council

The Forks City Council will consider collective bargaining agreements for police department employees when it meets Monday.

The council will meet at 7:30 p.m. at 500 E. Division St.

It also will consider a property acquisition.

Clallam PUD

Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners will consider appointing a district auditor and treasurer controller Monday.

The meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the Lake Crescent boardroom at the Carlsborg main office, located at 104 Hooker Road.

Planning commission

The Clallam County Planning Commission will discuss a proposed amendment to the critical area ordinance addressing agricultural exemptions Wednesday.

The work session will begin at 6:30 p.m. in Room 160 at the Clallam County Courthouse.

Other discussion will be on a recommended zone map, development regulations and comprehensive plan policies for the Carlsborg Urban Growth Area.

Olympic Medical ­Center

Olympic Medical Center commissioners will consider compensation changes for Olympic Medical Physicians when they meet Wednesday.

Commissioners will meet at 6 p.m. in Linkletter Hall in the basement of the hospital at 939 Caroline St.

They also will consider information technology capital purchases and maintenance and support for cancer center Mosaic software.

Lead Entity for Salmon

Policy and technical team members of the North Olympic Lead Entity for Salmon will hear project presentations Thursday.

The presentations will begin at 9 a.m. in council chambers at Port Angeles City Hall, 321 E. Fifth St., and are expected to continue into the afternoon after a lunch break.

The presentations are part of the 2016 Salmon Recovery Funding Board and 2017 Puget Sound Acquisition and Restoration grant round.

Projects have been proposed for the Hoko, Deep Creek, Elwha, Morse and Dungeness watersheds.
