EYE ON CLALLAM: Commissioners to open bids Tuesday for Carlsborg sewer project

The three Clallam County commissioners will open bids for the Carlsborg sewer project during their business meeting Tuesday.

The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. in the commissioners’ boardroom (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

Clallam County went out to bid Jan. 26 for the estimated $12.1 million construction project.

A bid is expected to be awarded in mid-April.

Other agenda items for the Tuesday business meeting include:

■ Agreements with private property owners for the purchase of an easement for the Carlsborg sewer project.

■ A call for bids due for a carpet replacement project in the Superior Court Clerk’s Office.

■ A bid opening for hot-mix asphalt and liquid asphalt.

■ A resolution certifying a county capitalized asset inventory as of last Dec. 31.

■ A resolution calling for a March 15 hearing on the proposed sale of surplus Sheriff’s Office vehicles.

Commissioners will meet at 9 a.m. Monday to preview items set for action in future meetings.

Discussion items for the work session include:

■ A one-year contract extension with Correctional Healthcare Cos. for inmate health care services in the Clallam County jail.

■ A grant agreement with the state Military Department and U.S. Department of Homeland Security for emergency management performance.

■ Agreements for engineering, technical support and services related to the Public Safety Radio Network.

■ A request from Sheriff’s Office to move two less-than-part-time radio maintenance technician positions into one full-time benefited one.

■ An agreement with the Clallam Conservation District for renewable resource conservation activities.

■ A land purchase agreement for Lower Elwha Road reconstruction.

■ Three easement purchases for the Carlsborg sewer project.

Port Angeles city

Port Angeles City Council members will select a three-person board of ethics to review a complaint filed Feb. 19 against Deputy Mayor Cherie Kidd and Councilman Dan Gase on Tuesday.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth St.

It will be preceded by a 5 p.m. special meeting to interview city Planning Commission applicants.

At the 6 p.m. meeting, council members will name an ethics board to review the second of two Code of Ethical Conduct complaints filed surrounding the council’s Feb. 2 meeting.

The first complaint was filed Feb. 4.

Both may be considered by the same board.

In other action, council members will consider approving lodging tax grant awards, make Planning Commission appointments and consider an emergency dispatch services interlocal agreement between the city and JeffCom in Jefferson County.

They also will consider amendments to an agreement with Cascadia Law Group PLC and Integral Consulting, both of Seattle, related to the environmental cleanup of Port Angeles Harbor.

Clallam PUD

Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners will hear a staff update on strategic plan objectives Monday.

The meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the Lake Crescent boardroom at the Carlsborg main office at 104 Hooker Road.

Other agenda items include an update from the North Olympic Peninsula Resource Conservation and Development Council, a bid award for janitorial services and the removal of delinquent accounts from active accounts receivable.

Olympic Medical ­Center

Olympic Medical Center commissioners are expected to appoint an internal auditor and temporary deputy treasurer when they meet Wednesday.

Commissioners will meet at 12:30 p.m. in Linkletter Hall in the basement of the hospital at 939 Caroline St., Port Angeles.

Employee recognition, physician and advanced practice clinician employment agreements, and revised models for physicians and advanced practice clinicians also are on the agenda.

Planning Commission

The Clallam County Planning Commission meeting for Wednesday has been canceled.

The commission will reconvene March 16.
