The three Clallam County commissioners will hold a hearing at their regular meeting Tuesday on debatable emergencies, including allocation of $901,200 in Opportunity Fund proceeds to the Peninsula Housing Authority for construction of a Boys & Girls Club in Port Angeles.
The regular meeting, which begins at 10 a.m. with the debatable emergencies hearing at the 10:30 a.m., is in the commissioners’ hearing room at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.
It will be preceded by a Monday work session at 9 a.m. in the same location that will preview items set for the commissioners’ Tuesday meeting.
The Monday work session will include a discussion of a call for hearing on an ordinance on vacation rentals and on a William Shore Memorial Pool District Opportunity Fund grant request that would pay for a preliminary-design options study for aquatic center expansion.
At their meeting Tuesday, commissioners also will consider resolutions authorizing the expenditure of hotel-motel tax funds for the Dungeness River Audubon Center and the appointment of Pamela Leonard-Ray to the county Board of Health.
Other debatable emergencies that will be considered Tuesday include $163,083 and $331,074 for sheriff’s office spreadsheet errors on jail salary and operations, respectively.
They also include $80,000 for the prosecuting attorney’s office for the Tommy L. Ross Jr. murder case for expert witness fees and transcript costs and a 2.3 percent increase totaling $6,472 for the 2017 fiscal year for an amendment to the Clallam County Jail Inmate Medical Services Agreement with Correctional Healthcare Cos.
Port Angeles city
Port Angeles City Council members will take action on a pavement repair contract for various locations when they hold a special meeting Tuesday that will be followed by an open house sponsored by the state Department of Transportation.
The meeting will be from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in council chambers at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth St.
Council members also will conduct a work session on Medic 1 funding and the state Surveying and Rating Bureau, a nonprofit available to professionals involved in fire protection practices.
The DOT open house will be from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and will focus on replacement of the Elwha River bridge. A quorum of city council members may attend the open house but will not take action.
Clallam PUD
Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners will consider approving the prequalifications of contractors to perform work for the district and for inclusion on the district’s small-works roster when the PUD commissioners meet in regular session Monday.
The meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the Lake Crescent boardroom at the Carlsborg main office, located at 104 Hooker Road.
They will consider purchasing a vegetation management excavator, a 55-foot bucket truck for the Forks service area and service trucks for the Port Angeles and Sequim-Carlsborg service areas.
They also will consider approving a resolution that would declare an emergency and authorize emergency work, without formal bid, for furnishing and installing casing under Carlsborg Road for future water-main crossings.
Planning commission
The Clallam County Planning Commission’s meeting for this Wednesday has been canceled.
The board will hold its next regular meeting March 15.
Olympic Medical Center
Olympic Medical Center commissioners will host a work session Wednesday that will include discussion of a United Food and Commercial Workers settlement.
The session will begin at 12:30 p.m. in Linkletter Hall in the basement of the hospital at 939 E. Caroline St., Port Angeles.
Hospital commissioners also will discuss information technology server storage, landscaping services and hospital roof insulation, and hear a safety update.
They also will hold executive sessions on collective bargaining and to discuss litigation.
Quillayute Valley School District
The Quillayute Valley School Board will consider approving an agreement with Skagit County Public Hospital District 304 for implementing youth tobacco-prevention activities when board members meet in regular session Wednesday.
The meeting begins at 6:10 p.m. in the Forks High School library, 261 Spartan Ave., Forks.
Board members also will consider hiring Gabriel Camarena-Velasquez as a Forks High School assistant boys soccer coach, effective Monday, as well as review a memo of understanding with Olympic Educational Service District 114 to provide Beginning Educator Support Team mentor teacher support to the Cape Flattery School District.
They also will discuss a Forks High School family communication project.
