The three Clallam County commissioners are expected to issue a call for a public hearing Aug. 23 on proposed ordinances concerning vacation rentals when they meet Tuesday.
The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. in the commissioners’ boardroom (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles. An executive session is set for 11 a.m. to discuss pending litigation.
Changes would update Clallam County Code 33 by adding a new chapter on vacation rentals and adding new definitions related to vacation rental standards.
Draft ordinances have been recommended by the county planning commission.
At the Tuesday meeting, commissioners also will consider:
• Extending the contract with C. Akin Blitz and Bullard Law for labor and employment law-related representation from Aug. 1 to Jan. 1, 2017.
• An agreement with the state Department of Transportation for guardrail improvements at Lower Elwha Road, Little River Road and Quillayute Road.
• A contract with the state Department of Natural Resources for purchase of products appraised at $25,000 or less from state lands.
• Notice of bids to be received no later than 10 a.m. Aug. 30 for the Clallam County jail camera and recording installation project and notice of bids to be received no later than 10 a.m. Aug. 23 for the 2016 countywide intersection and road repair project.
• Notice that the preliminary 2017 Clallam County budget will be available Sept. 13.
At the Monday session, which will begin at 9 a.m. in the commissioners’ boardroom, commissioners will consider rejecting all bids for the courthouse grounding project, all of which came in above budget, and a change order for floral barn structural improvements at the fairgrounds.
Port of Port Angeles
Port of Port Angeles commissioners will consider moorage rates when they meet Monday.
Commissioners will meet at 9 a.m. for a work session and at 1 p.m for a business meeting at port headquarters at 338 W. First St.
Moorage rates will be discussed at the 1 p.m. meeting, where commissioners also will consider an airport gate and navaid improvement project.
At 1:15 p.m., they will consider sponsoring Jammin’ in the Park.
During the 9 a.m. workshop, commissioners will be given an overview of the Cascadia Rising earthquake drill in June, and updates on the washdown facility and logo refresh. They will consider bylaw revisions.
Sequim City Council
The Sequim City Council will consider proceeding with outfitting council chambers with equipment needed to livestream video to increase public access to meetings when it gathers Monday.
The council will meet at 5 p.m. at the Sequim Civic Center, 152 W. Cedar St.
Video of public meetings would be archived and available for public viewing and would be available to PAPA for broadcast on the public access channel.
The council will conduct public hearings on mid-year budget amendments and zoning code revisions.
The council also will consider an amendment to the subdivision code for plat alterations to make it more user-friendly, consider awarding a pavement preservation contract and a local agency supplement to the Fir Street grant.
Staff will seek input from the council on the 2016-17 work goals.
Clallam PUD
Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners will hear year-to-date power supply statistics at a work session on Monday.
Commissioners will meet at 1:30 p.m. in the Lake Crescent boardroom at 104 Hooker Road in Carlsborg.
They also will hear of renewable energy compliance plans and Bonneville Power Administration resource notice requirements. Review of forecast compared to actual will help shape the assumptions for the 2017 budget discussions.
Forks City Council
The Forks City Council will hear an update on the Spartan Field upgrade when it meets Monday.
The council will meet at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall, 500 E. Division St.
It also will hear a presentation from Connie Beauvais of the Port of Port Angeles commission.
It will consider appointing a representative to review the composition of the public transportation benefit area governing body, which is the Clallam Transit board.
Conservation district
The Clallam Conservation District board will hear an update on rates and charge when it meets Tuesday.
The board will meet at 3 p.m. at Armory Square, 228 W. First St., Suite H.
It also will consider a water supply grant amendment with the state Department of Ecology, an interlocal agreement with the Walla Walla County Conservation District, a cultural resources survey contract for irrigation projects and the Sequim School District rainwater harvesting demonstration project.
