EYE ON CLALLAM: Commissioners to consider park fees

The three Clallam County commissioners will consider new fees Tuesday for camping at county parks.

The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. in the commissioners’ meeting room (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St. Port Angeles.

Other agenda items include:

• Easement purchases for the Carlsborg sewer project.

• A resolution allowing the Board of Equalization to convene for hearing appeals.

• A resolution authorizing action on current use assessment applications.

• A zoning amendment for a parcel near the corner of U.S. Highway 101 and Fey Road west of Port Angeles.

Commissioners will preview items set for action at future meetings as part of their weekly work session.

The work session will begin at 9 a.m. Monday.

Discussion items will include an update on the Carlsborg sewer project, a public records update and a grant application for funding a 4.5-mile segment of the Olympic Discovery Trail that will connect state Highway 112 near Gossett Road to Lake Crescent.

Building Code Board of Appeals

The Clallam County Building Code Board of Appeals will deliberate and render a decision on an administrative decision for a proposed 32,000-square-foot bed-and-breakfast on East Sequim Bay Road on Monday.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in Room 160 at the Clallam County Courthouse.

Port Angeles city

Port Angeles City Council members will discuss establishing a transportation benefit district in 2018 to fund repair and maintenance of city streets when they meet for a work session Tuesday.

The meeting will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth St.

The district could be funded with an increase in sales taxes or driver’s license renewal fees.

Public comment will not be taken at the meeting.

Sequim city

The Sequim City Council will discuss an agreement for rehabilitation of West Fir Street when it meets Monday.

The council will meet at 5 p.m. at the Sequim Civic Center, 152 W. Cedar St.

The council will consider an agreement with the state Transportation Improvement Board for a fuel tax grant distribution agreement in the amount of $3,103,422 for work on Fir Street between North Fifth Avenue to North Sequim Avenue.

It also will consider support of two levies for Sequim schools that will be on the Feb. 14 special election ballot. The proposals are for an educational program and operations replacement levy and a capital levy to renovate and expand the school district kitchen.

The council also will receive an update on a request for proposal for art in council chambers.

It will consider propane tank security, an interlocal agreement with the Highland Irrigation District and a closeout report on a stormwater grant.

Forks city

The Forks City Council will consider a budget ordinance when it meets Monday.

The council will meet at 7:30 p.m. in City Hall, 500 E. Division St.

Clallam PUD

Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners will consider adopting 2017 electric, water and wastewater operating fund budgets Monday.

The meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the Lake Crescent boardroom of the district’s main office in Carlsborg, located at 104 Hooker Road.

Other agenda items include:

• Approval of a 2017 strategic plan.

• A resolution establishing the electric system rate schedules to account for a change in a Green Power rate.

• An election of board officers to serve in 2017 and 2018.

• A resolution declaring Dec. 15 as Hydropower Appreciation Day.

This will be the final PUD commissioners’ meeting for the year.

Clallam Conservation District

The Clallam Conservation District board will discuss a draft work plan for 2017 on Tuesday.

The meeting will begin at 3 p.m. in Suite H at Armory Square, 228 W. First St., Port Angeles.

Other agenda items include a cost-sharing program review, a water quality inspections report and cooperator and cost-share agreements.

Peninsula College

Peninsula College trustees will meet Tuesday.

The meeting will be at 2 p.m. in the Cornaby Center on the Port Angeles campus at 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd.

Quillayute Valley schools

The Quillayute Valley School Board will discuss a proposed levy Tuesday.

The special meeting will be at 6 p.m. in the library at Forks High School, 261 S. Spartan Ave.

The district plans to place a replacement educational programs, maintenance and operations levy on the Feb. 14 special election ballot.

Crescent schools

The Crescent School Board will meet Thursday.

The meeting will be at 7 p.m. in the library of the school at 50350 state Highway 112.
