Clallam County commissioners will discuss a budget request for funding to recruit and train new Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteers Monday.
The work session will begin at 9 a.m. in the commissioners’ board room (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.
A state grant that has supported the CASA program has recently ended. CASA supports children who are in the court system through no fault of their own.
Other agenda items for the work session include:
• Notice of a July 30 public hearing for proposed amendments to the consolidated fee schedule.
• A resolution closing the Washington State University Clallam County Extension Office petty cash fund.
• A resolution appointing Arleen Jenson and Christy Cox to the Solid Waste Advisory Committee.
• A resolution reappointing Fred Grant and Bruce Paul to the Noxious Weed Control Board.
At 1 p.m. Monday, commissioners will hear an update from the Clallam County Economic Development Corp. and review an agreement between the county and the nonprofit that works to help businesses.
Commissioners will conduct their regular business meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Scheduled action items include:
• A contract with the state Recreation and Conservation of Office for funding of the final phase of the Spruce Railroad Trail.
• A right-of-way agreement for the Dry Creek Road reconstruction project.
• An amended agreement with Shannon and Wilson for the Lower Dungeness floodplain restoration project.
• An agreement with the Office of Crime Victims Advocacy-Community Services and Housing Division for funding provided through a victim/witness assistance grant program.
• An agreement with the Salish Behavioral Health Organization for amended rates for outpatient services to increase Medicaid funding.
• An agreement with the state Administrative Office of the Courts for support of a family and juvenile court improvement plan.
• A bid opening for the Gossett Road to Waterline Road segment of the Olympic Discovery Trail.
• A resolution appointing Viola Ware and Christine Miko to the Behavioral Health Program Fund Advisory Board.
• A resolution appointing Nathan Tyler to the Sheriff’s Citizens Advisory Committee.
Port of Port Angeles
Port of Port Angeles commissioners will discuss Tuesday a proposal to move the Clallam County Emergency Operation Center into the port’s 1010 Building near William R. Fairchild International Airport.
The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. at the port administration building at 338 W. First St., Port Angeles.
Other agenda items include:
• A recap of Airport Appreciation Day.
• A delegation of authority report.
• A Community Economic Revitalization Board broadband planning grant.
• A Clallam County Economic Development Corp. term lease.
Clallam PUD
Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners will consider declaring an emergency and approving the waiver of competitive bidding requirements for the purchase of a 69-kilovolt circuit switcher Monday.
The meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the Lake Crescent Boardroom at the Carlsborg main office, located at 104 Hooker Road.
Other agenda items include a resolution authorizing the investment of PUD monies in a local government investment pool.
Forks City Council
Forks City Council members will conduct a public hearing to gather input on a proposed Transportation Improvement Plan on Monday.
The meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Forks City Hall, 500 E. Division St.
The 2020-2025 Transportation Improvement Plan is used by local, state and federal governments to prioritize and fund transportation projects.
The proposed transportation plan is available at www.forkswashington.org.
Conservation District
The Clallam Conservation District board will discuss Tuesday a Clallam County onsite septic system fee proposal.
The meeting will begin at 3 p.m. in Suite H at Armory Square, 228 W. First St., Port Angeles.
Other agenda items include an election of officers, an agreement with the Agnew Irrigation District for ditch piping projects and an update on a well metering pilot project.
Port Angeles schools
The Port Angeles School Board is scheduled to meet Thursday.
The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the district’s administration building at 216 E. Fourth St.
