EYE ON CLALLAM: Clallam County board to discuss shoreline plan

Clallam County commissioners will discuss the Shoreline Master Program update in their weekly work session Monday.

The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. in the commissioners’ boardroom (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

The Clallam County Planning Commission completed its review of the 2017 draft shoreline master plan Sept. 20 and recommended approval subject to additional revisions.

The three commissioners will hold a public hearing before they consider whether to adopt the planning document later this fall.

Other scheduled topics for the work session include an overview of Olympic Region Clean Air Agency (ORCAA) programs, a U.S. Food and Drug Administration grant application and a call for bids for an Emergency Operations Center grounding/electrical switchboard improvement project.

Commissioners will conduct their regular business meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Action items include a bid opening for a Salt Creek water line replacement project and an agreement with attorney John Black for juvenile offender attorney services, according to the agenda.

Commissioners also will recognize October as Disability Employment Awareness Month and present a proclamation recognizing employers of individuals with developmental disabilities.

Port Angeles city

The Port Angeles City Council will conduct a first reading of a solid waste transfer station rate reduction when it meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The meeting will be in City Council chambers at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth St.

Other agenda items include consideration of a resolution of support for Clallam County’s proposed one-tenth of 1 percent sales tax to support juvenile justice services.

Olympic Medical Center

Olympic Medical Center commissioners will conduct a Port Angeles community forum when they meet at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Commissioners will meet in Linkletter Hall in the basement conference area of the hospital at 939 Caroline St., Port Angeles.

The purpose of the forum is to review the 2017-19 strategic plan and receive input regarding the 2018-20 strategic plan.

The regular will follow with consideration of a professional services agreement for hospitalist services, new carpet for the patient financial services building and an update on physicians.

Port of Port Angeles

Port of Port Angeles commissioners will rename the public meeting room at the John Wayne Marina in honor of the late D.G. “Jerry” Hendricks when they meet at 9 a.m. Monday.

Commissioners will meet at port headquarters, 338 W. First St.

Hendricks began his career with the Port of Port Angeles in 1967, retiring as executive director in 1994. He died in July.

Commissioners will begin the meeting with a work session on the 2018 capital budget and delegation of authority.

They will consider renewal options with Merrill & Ring, a resolution concerning public records policy and approval of new timber advisory committee members.

Sequim schools

The Sequim School Board will hear a special report from Superintendent Gary Neal and the Sequim Education Association when it meets at 6 p.m. Monday.

The board will meet at district offices, 503 N. Sequim Ave.

The board also will hear a report on the legislative assembly.

Clallam PUD

Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners will consider approving a change order to add a new restroom, revised HVAC system and radiant floor heat to the Forks vehicle storage building when they meet at 1:30 p.m. Monday.

The meeting will be in the Lake Crescent boardroom at the Carlsborg main office at 104 Hooker Road.

Other agenda items include an amended task order for construction administration support for work on the Forks vehicle storage building and contractor pre-qualifications.

District commissioners will serve cake and meet with customers in the main office lobby from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday in recognition of Public Power Week.

Fire District 3

Clallam County Fire District 3 commissioners will consider a volunteer/training coordinator position when they meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

The commissioners will meet at 323 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim.

Also on the agenda are a draft commissioner compensation policy and draft commissioner handbook, after which the board will go into executive session.

The district covers the east side of Clallam County with a small portion in Jefferson County.

Planning commission

The Clallam County Planning Commission meeting for Wednesday has been canceled.

The next meeting will be Oct. 18.
