Clallam County commissioners will discuss a resolution authorizing action on climate change Monday.
The work session will begin at 9 a.m. in the commissioners’ board room (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.
The proposed resolution states that future comprehensive plans will address the impacts of climate change, that county officials will re-convene a climate advisory group to help update the county’s 2009 Climate Action Plan and calls on the board to engage the community in a broader conversation about climate change.
Other discussion items for the work session include:
• A port security grant application to fund a new Emergency Operations Center away from the courthouse.
• A contract amendment with Salish Behavioral Health Organization for state funds with amended rates for outpatient services.
• Contract amendments with the state Department of Social and Health Services for funding developmental disabilities providers.
• A contract change order with McCoy Electric Company, Inc. for the courthouse Emergency Operations Center grounding and electrical switchboard improvement project.
• A discussion on the distribution of domestic violence prevention funds between Healthy Families of Clallam County and Forks Abuse Program.
Commissioners will review the 2018 budget at 7:30 a.m. Monday.
They will hear an update on the Shoreline Master Program at 1 p.m. Monday.
Commissioners will hold their regular business meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Scheduled action items include:
• A letter to the cities of Port Angeles and Sequim regarding a criminal justice financial analysis.
• A contract extension with Bode Cellmark for forensic testing services related to the Tommy Ross murder case.
• A resolution initiating a countywide guardrail project.
Port of Port Angeles
Port of Port Angeles commissioners will consider awarding a bid for completion of the Marine Trades Industrial Park Wash-Down Facility when they meet at 9 a.m. Monday.
The special meeting will be in the port administration building, 338 W. First St.
Staff is recommending the contract be awarded to low bidder McClure & Sons, Inc., of Mill Creek for $1.7 million.
Commissioners also will hear an update on the John Wayne Marina Waterfront Day.
City of Sequim
The Sequim City Council will hear from state Reps. Steve Tharinger and Mike Chapman at 5 p.m. Monday.
The meeting will be at the Sequim Civic Center, 152 W. Cedar St.
Council members will discuss the Sequim legislative agenda with the two representatives of Legislative District 24 during its work session preceding the regular meeting.
They will consider adopting guiding principles associated with human services funding and the city’s personnel policy manual.
A hearing on zoning amendments is to be continued to June 25.
City of Port Angeles
The Port Angeles City Council will conduct a think tank at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
The meeting will be in City Council chambers at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth.
The purpose of the think tank is to provide an informal setting where City Council members can brainstorm among themselves and discuss policy and other ideas.
Because it is intended to be a brainstorming session for sharing ideas, no action will be taken, city officials said.
City of Forks
The Forks City Council will consider awarding a bid for the Quillayute Airport runway rehabilitation project at 7:30 p.m, Monday.
The meeting will be at Forks City Hall, 500 E. Division St.
Other action items include the use of city property for the Forks Old Fashioned Fourth of July celebration.
Public Utility District
Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners will consider awarding a $567,577 bid to Michels Power for the replacement of transmission poles from Airport Road to the Laird substation at 1:30 p.m. Monday.
The meeting will be in the Lake Crescent Boardroom at the Carlsborg main office, located at 104 Hooker Road.
Other agenda items include a staff recommendation to accept an updated water system plan.
Clallam Conservation District
The Clallam Conservation District board will consider removal and addition of signers on bank accounts when it meets Tuesday.
The meeting will begin at 3 p.m. in Suite H at Armory Square, 228 W. First St., Port Angeles.
The board will also discuss the Dungeness Water Rule metering project.
Fire District No. 3
Clallam County Fire District No. 3 commissioners will discuss a proposed levy lid lift resolution when it meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
The special board meeting will be at the district’s headquarters station, 323 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim.
The district covers the east side of Clallam County with a small portion in Jefferson County.
Peninsula College Board of Trustees
The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of Community College District No. 1, Peninsula College, will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m.
The board will meet in the Cornaby Center at the college, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd.
