QUILCENE — The can-do spirit of Quilcene’s pioneering past is celebrated and displayed today at the community’s newly expanded history museum.
“It was a labor of love for us,” said Mary Phillips, a Quilcene native and founding board member of the Quilcene Historical Museum at 151 E. Columbia St. She now serves as board chairwoman.
The expansion added 1,100 square feet to the original 980-square-foot building, as well as improvements both inside and out.
A new graveled parking lot and landscaped picnic area were added to welcome visitors.
Museum volunteer Bob Prill added shingles to the buildings exterior, providing visitors with a warm, rustic entry.
