BELLINGHAM — A Whatcom County Superior Court judge has sentenced a former U.S. Border Patrol official to four years in prison for child rape.
Joseph W. Giuliano, 55, pleaded to three counts of third-degree child rape after admitting to having sex with a 14-year-old girl more than two dozen times last year. The girl had lived in Giuliano’s home.
Giuliano was the number two official for the U.S. Border Patrol in the region that includes the North Olympic Peninsula. He retired soon after his arrest.
The Bellingham Herald reported that Whatcom County Superior Court judge Charles Snyder rejected recommendations from prosecutors and defense attorneys of no jail time for Giuliano.
