‘Godspell’ swan song this weekend

PORT ANGELES — The last three performances of “Godspell,” the New Testament-inspired rock musical, are set for this weekend at the Port Angeles Community Playhouse, 1235 E. Lauridsen Blvd.

Mark and Danielle Lorentzen, sisters Kathryn and Anne Lorentzen, Marissa Wilson, Josh McLean, Sharah Truett and Shannon Cosgrove are all part of the cast of the show, which begins at 7:30 tonight and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.

Tickets are $12 for adults or $6 for children and seniors at Odyssey Books, 114 W. Front St., or at www.pacommunityplayers.com.

Any remaining tickets will be sold at the playhouse door.

Latin, other steps

PORT ANGELES — Award-winning ballroom-dance instructor Carol Hathaway is teaching cha-cha, rumba, salsa and quick-step each Tuesday night at the Sequim Prairie Grange Hall, 290 Macleay Road.

The first session at 7 p.m. covers the Latin styles; then at 8 p.m. it’s time for quick-step, an elegant dance that takes partners flying across the floor.

The fee is $6 per person per class.

Free art nights

PORT ANGELES — Drink and Draw, an evening of art-making at The Loom lounge at Studio Bob, 118½ E. Front St., is open to all ages every Thursday evening.

Doors open at 7 p.m., clothed models pose and artists of any kind join in.

There’s no admission charge.

Soft drinks and other beverages are available for purchase from The Loom.

‘Monologues’ to debut next week

SEQUIM — Eve Ensler’s classic theater piece “The Vagina Monologues” will arrive on the Olympic Theatre Arts stage next Friday, Feb. 27, for a two-weekend run.

Alexandria Edouart, Maggie McDougal and Jennifer Sies will present the monologues in this second-stage production in OTA’s Gathering Hall on at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays from Feb. 27 through March 8.

Tickets are $10 for general admission at OTA, 414 N. Sequim Ave.

Storytelling on tap

PORT ANGELES — The Story People of Clallam County are set to present a house concert and workshop with Anne Rutherford, an acclaimed storyteller and teaching artist, next Saturday, Feb. 28.

“Jump-Start Your Stories” is the name of Rutherford’s 2 p.m. workshop at the Port Angeles home of Pat Ferris.

The fee for the two-hour program is $35.

That evening, Rutherford will give a performance, “Becoming Our Own Heroes: Stories of Unexpected Courage,” at the home of Cherie Trebon, also in Port Angeles.

Admission is $10.

For both the workshop and the concert, reservations are necessary; the number to call is 360-808-9924.

Rutherford, who is based in Oregon, teaches and shares vintage stories, trickster tales and folklore all over the Northwest.

She was a featured teller at the 2013 Forest Storytelling Festival in Port Angeles and has won Seattle’s Northwest Folklife Festival Liars’ Contest twice.

Saturday’s Soiree on Feb. 28

PORT TOWNSEND — The Port Townsend Education Foundation’s Soiree and Auction is coming up Saturday, Feb. 28, at The Commons at Fort Worden State Park, 200 Battery Way.

This seventh annual event will start at 6:30 p.m. with lavish hors d’oeuvres, drinks and dancing to Rhythm Planet and The Better Half, games such as “wine wars” and a dessert dash — and an auction of Seattle and Portland concert tickets and other music-oriented gifts.

Tickets are $50 per person with proceeds to benefit innovative projects in Port Townsend’s public schools.
