Art, drama clubs

PORT ANGELES — Teaching artist Sarah Tucker is offering after-school art and drama clubs for first- through sixth-graders now at the Camp Fire Club House, 619 E. Fourth St.

Monday is the day for children in grades four, five and six to participate in the Marine Debris Art Club, which goes from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. each week. The younger kids in first, second and third grade have their own session from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. every Wednesday. In both, Tucker will teach students how to make fine art from beach debris, which Coastsavers volunteers have already collected.

Then comes the Forte Drama Club, with sessions for first- through third-graders every Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The fourth- through sixth-graders, meanwhile, meet from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thursdays.

During the last session of each month, the drama kids will put on a play, Tucker noted, while the marine debris artists will have the opportunity to display some of their creations at two events: the Feb. 5 Fish on the Fence gala in Port Angeles and the Rainforest Arts Center’s Trashion Show in Forks on April 22.

The fee for Tucker’s after-school clubs — either drama or marine debris art — is $60 per month per child or $15 for drop-ins, including supplies, juice and snacks.

For more information about these programs, which will continue into June, contact Tucker at 360-775-4154 or sarah@tuckerart.com.
