Holiday revue

SEQUIM — Olympic Theatre Arts will host auditions this Tuesday and next Saturday, Nov. 7, for its holiday musical revue to be held in December.

For this production, director Cathy Marshall is looking for a group of carolers who will also serve as masters and mistresses of ceremonies, leading the audience in sing-alongs during every show.

“If you love to sing and can enchant an audience, this one’s for you,” said Marshall.

The auditions will run from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. next Saturday at Olympic Theatre Arts, 414 N. Sequim Ave.

Experienced singers should come prepared to perform a holiday song or two of their choosing, either a cappella or with piano accompaniment.

The theater will provide sheet music for some familiar songs, but candidates may also bring their own sheet music to use. Hopefuls might also be asked to harmonize with others during the tryouts.

Those who are chosen for the holiday revue cast will be expected to attend twice-weekly rehearsals until the performance dates, which are Friday through Sunday, Dec. 11 to 13.

For more information or to schedule an alternate audition time, phone Olympic Theatre Arts’ office between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays at 360-683-7326.

To audition, performers should prepare two contrasting monologues or one monologue and a song. No accompaniment is available.

Monologues will be provided at the audition for those who don’t have prepared material.

Each audition will have a five-minute limit.

This new CD brings together not only the men’s gospel singers — 19 voices from eight churches — but also the Crabfest Revival Choir and the Little Brass Band, all with director Michael Rivers.

Trinity United Methodist is at 100 S. Blake Ave., and more details about the choir await at www.pmgospelsingers.com.

The cast, which features Michael Aldrich, Ken Winters, Ric Munhall, Jeff Leach, Barbara Drennan and Teresa Pierce in multiple roles, will step up at 7 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and at 2:30 p.m. Sundays from Nov. 6 through Nov. 15.

Tickets are $10 in advance at Purple Haze Lavender and Sequim Spice & Tea in downtown Sequim and at Odyssey Books in downtown Port Angeles; any remaining will be sold at the door for $12.
