PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St., will host the inaugural Art Blastapalooza at 6 tonight.

The event is free and open to the public.

The event will begin with an opening reception for the art exhibit, “Booky Arcade.”

The main stage show, including music by Portland, Ore.-based band Jacob Miller and the Bridge City Crooners, will begin at 7 p.m.

In addition to the customary exhibit and music set up for typical Art Blast events, the Blastapalooza event also will feature a carnival-style arcade of fun and fanciful activities, and a performance by the Strait Paced Librarian Umbrella Dance Team, according to a news release.

Silent and live auctions conducted by the North Olympic Library Foundation will feature library book trucks and gift boxes that have been artistically re-envisioned by area artists.

Limited library services will be available during this after-hours event.

Distracted at KCPT

PORT TOWNSEND — Performances of “Distracted” — a play contemplating attention deficit disorder — will run from tonight through July 23 at the Key City Playhouse, 419 Washington St.

This will be the first teen production of Key City Public Theatre’s Young Artist’s Initiative, according to a news release.

The performance centers on Jesse, a 9-year-old boy who can’t sit still, curses and raps.

His father believes it is just a phase, but his mother sets off on a quest to discover if her son is dysfunctional or just unique.

Mom consults a psychologist, a homeopath, a neuropsychologist and an environmental physician.

She talks to neighbors, whose kids have their own diagnoses.

Throughout the performance, Jesse is an offstage voice.

Performances will be at 7:30 tonight and Saturday night, and at the same time July 20, 21, 22 and 23.

There will be one Sunday Matinee this weekend at 2:30 p.m.

Tickets are $10 Adults or $5 Students, and are available online at keycitypublictheatre.org or at the Playhouse Box Office.

For more information, call 360-385-5278.
