Enjoy outdoor concerts this week

Pack up a picnic dinner, grab your lawn chair or a blanket — and don’t forget your sunglasses if it’s sunny — and head to family-friendly outdoor community concerts in Jefferson and Clallam counties this week.

Here’s the schedule:

SEQUIM

Tuesday, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. — Howly and Da’ Boyz (island swing).

Free. This is part of the city of Sequim’s Music in the Park series every Tuesday through Aug. 31 at the outdoor James Center for the Performing Arts amphitheater at 563 N. Rhodefer Road, next to Carrie Blake Park.

Next Music in the Park concert, on Aug. 17 — MLR (multigenerational classic rock-n-roll).

On Sunday, Aug. 15, at 3 p.m. — The Sequim City Band continues its once-a-month performances in the James Center for the Performing Arts amphitheater (address above). Free.

The Olympic Express Big Band will perform separately at 2 p.m.

PORT ANGELES

Wednesday, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. — The Soul Shakers (blues).

Free. This is part of the Port Angeles Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Concert on the Pier series. Concerts are every Wednesday through Sept. 8 on Port Angeles City Pier. Vendors sell food.

City Pier is a no-smoking, alcohol-free environment. Some chairs are available for the disabled and early arrivals. Next free concert, on Aug. 18 — Super Trees (rock ‘n’ roll).

PORT TOWNSEND

Thursday, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. — The Port Angeles-based Lonely H (’70s-influenced rock ‘n’ roll).

Free. This is part of the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce’s summer Concert on the Dock series every Thursday through Sept. 2 at the end of Water Street across from the Northwest Maritime Center (431 Water St.).

Next free concert, on Aug. 19 — Solbird (R&B).

MARROWSTONE ISLAND

Saturday, 7 p.m. to about 9 p.m. — Dana Lyons and The Cabiri Performance Troupe (eclectic music and dance).

The concert is in Battery Bankhead at Fort Flagler State Park at the end of

Marrowstone Island.

Follow the signs to the battery. Admission by donation. Sponsored by the Friends of Fort Flagler.

Next concert, on Aug. 28 — Port Townsend Summer Band.

CONCERT FOR CHARITY

Olympic Cellars winery’s month-long Saturday Summer Concert Series continues with Star Anna and the Laughing Dogs, an alt-country band from Ellensburg, from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. this coming Saturday.

Cost is $5, with the money going to The Gynocare Fund for local women without medical insurance. The outdoor concert will take place on the winery grounds, 255410 U.S. Highway 101, between Port Angeles and Sequim.

Bring a picnic dinner and lawn chairs; winery seating fills quickly.

Beverages will be available for sale.

Next concert, on Aug. 21: Haywire (mix of classical rock and upbeat country).

This will be a benefit for the Jet Set Soroptimists’ Girls’ Scholarship Fund.

On Aug. 28 (final concert of the series) — Handful of Luvin’ from Seattle brings an “eccentric blend of folk-rock, reggae and world rhythms” as a benefit for the North Olympic Land Trust and Friends of the Fields.
