Stanko, 66, a Cape George Democrat, won 2,783 votes, or 30.4 percent.
Ken Przygocki, 63, a Chimacum resident who filed with no party preference, was in third after Tuesday’s counts with 2,643 votes, or 28.8 percent.
The top two will advance to the Nov. 4 general election for the post.
In races with three or more candidates, the top-two primary election narrowed the Nov. 4 general election ballot to the two candidates who received the most votes.
