SEQUIM — The Dungeness National Wildlife Refuge plans volunteer training for April 21.
Annual new volunteer training will be from 8 a.m. to noon, with lunch provided, at the Sequim Prairie Grange Hall, 290 MacLeay Road.
Training for new volunteers is offered only once each year.
In addition, an annual refresher for current volunteers is set from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. that day at the grange hall.
Volunteers will assist visitors and staff.
Their primary duties include greeting visitors and providing information about the wildlife refuge’s trails and wildlife.
Surveys, mitigation
They also may do wildlife surveys, invasive species mitigation, habitat restoration, maintenance, beach cleanup or administrative tasks.
The entrance to the wildlife refuge is at 554 Voice of America Road.
The refuge is open daily from 7 a.m. to a half-hour before sunset. Closing times are posted daily at the trailhead.
