SEQUIM — Registered nurse Susan Sorensen will present a free WOW! Working on Wellness Forum on diabetes at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
“Diabetes, it is not the end of the world!” will be presented at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave.
Seating is limited and prospective attendees are asked to arrive early.
During her presentation, Sorensen will offer information about diabetes and the five aspects of the “Star Program” to simplify the management of diabetes for a more healthful life.
Sorensen of Starlady Diabetes Education has a diploma in nursing from Lutheran Medical Center of Nursing, a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the Medical College of Virginia and a master’s degree in human resource development from Webster University.
She retired from the U.S. Air Force with the rank of lieutenant colonel.
From 1:45 p.m. to 2:15 p.m., volunteer nurses from the Dungeness Valley Health and Wellness Clinic will be available to check the blood pressure of anyone who might be interested.
WOW! Working on Wellness is a health education program of the free Dungeness Valley Health & Wellness Clinic in Sequim.
The clinic provides basic urgent care and chronic health care services to uninsured community members.
Their work is supported by more than 70 volunteers, including physicians, other professional health care providers and laypersons, as well as private and public donations from the Sequim community and other areas.
The Basic Urgent Care Clinic is open to uninsured patients Monday and Thursday evenings beginning at 5.
