PORT ANGELES — A Port Angeles man was hospitalized in serious condition Sunday at Olympic Medical Center after a one-car rollover wreck Saturday night.
James R. Adams, 33, was injured at about 10:10 p.m. Saturday when the white 1999 Jeep Cherokee he was driving left the road on U.S. Highway 101 near the former Lake Aldwell west of Port Angeles.
According to a State Patrol report, Adams was westbound on Highway 101 a half-mile west of the junction with state Highway 112.
The Cherokee crossed the centerline and both lanes of eastbound Highway 101 hit a ditch and overturned, coming to rest on its roof.
He was transported to Olympic, where a hospital spokeswoman said Sunday that he was in serious condition in the intensive care unit.
The State Patrol said the cause of the wreck was speed too fast for the conditions.
The use of drugs or alcohol may have contributed to the wreck, and a citation for driving under the influence was issued, according to the report.
Both lanes of westbound lanes and one lane of eastbound Highway 101 were closed until nearly midnight as emergency crews treated Adams and cleared the wreck.
Adams was wearing his seat belt, the report said.
