PORT ANGELES — Seven downtown intersections will get new traffic signals in a project beginning at 7 a.m. Monday.
Contractor Signal Electric Inc. of Kent will work from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday for up to nine weeks.
Work will be completed on one signal before beginning another, and all other signals will remain in normal operation, city officials said.
Intersections will be controlled with flaggers during work hours, then the traffic signals will be returned to normal operation during off-hours.
Intersections getting the upgrades are First and Lincoln streets; First and Laurel streets; First and Oak streets; First and Peabody streets; Front and Lincoln streets; Front and Laurel streets; and Front Street and Oak streets.
The new signals are intended to help traffic flow more smoothly and replace equipment that is too old for replacement parts.
