SHINE — The state Department of Transportation has once again canceled overnight closures of the Hood Canal Bridge that had been set for tonight and Thursday night, citing adverse weather conditions.
The closures have again been rescheduled for next week.
This is the fourth time since the week before Christmas that DOT has scheduled overnight closures.
The five-hour closures are set to be on Jan. 18, 19 and 20.
Here is the schedule:
• 11 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18 to 4 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19.
• 11 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19 to 4 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 20.
• 11 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20 to 4 a.m. Friday, Jan. 21.
The closures are to allow crews to continue work on a project that replaces and bolsters bridge equipment. Similar overnight closures were canceled Dec. 21-22, Jan. 4, 5 and 6, and Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week. Tuesday’s overnight closure was canceled on Monday.
DOT again warns that the work could be rescheduled due to weather.
Due to the nature of the work, during an overnight closure, the bridge will not open for any traffic, including emergency response.

The agency once sent text messages upon request about Hood Canal Bridge closures and openings, but a notice on the website says those have been disabled due to cost.
