PORT ANGELES — More than 40 vendors are expected at the Promise of Spring Doll Show on Saturday.
The 22nd annual show will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Vern Burton Community Center at 308 E. Fourth St.
Admission will be $2. Those who bring a canned food item for the Port Angeles Food Bank will receive a free ticket for one of the several door prizes.
The grand prize drawing — which will benefit the Peninsula Home Fund — will be for American Girl doll Tenney and accessories.
A craft table, free with admission, is planned for children to make paper dolls.
The theme of the show is Dolly Roundup, said Dori Beachler, president of Just Dolls of Washington, a group based in Port Angeles which sponsors the annual show.
All kinds of dolls and teddy bears will be on sale and on display. Vendors will offer antique and modern dolls, bears, furniture and accessories.
“Dolls, teddy bears and toys are reflections of our history and culture,” Beachler said.
“They cross all boundaries of ethnicity and when we are young, help us express our hopes and dream. They are our companions as we learn to negotiate the world.”
A hair styling event for 18-inch dolls is planned. Parents or grandparents can bring children and their dolls for a hair makeover while they shop for new clothes and accessories, Beachler said.
