PORT ANGELES – Olympic Medical Center’s family doctors Wednesday presented a contract counteroffer for continuing to practice at the former Virginia Mason clinic at 433 E. Eighth St.
Now named the Olympic Medical Physicians Primary Care Clinic, the facility is staffed by nine primary care providers whose contract with the medical center expired Dec. 31.
According to Dr. Larry Gordon, spokesman for the physicians, he and the clinic’s Dr. Bill Kintner presented a counteroffer based on research into family practices in Clallam County, Washington state and the U.S.
“We asked for national standard pay,” Gordon said.
The offer, he said, was based on Relative Value Units, or RVUs, which Medicare uses to measure doctors’ performance across a range of medical procedures, including office visits.
