DISCOVERY BAY — State Highway 20 was closed for about 14 hours Thursday and Friday after a semi truck and trailer loaded with tools ran off the road into a ditch.
The truck was heading north on the narrow and winding highway about a half-mile north of Discovery Bay around 10:30 p.m. Thursday.
The driver, 26-year-old Josh M. Pederson, apparently let one of the truck’s wheels slip off the payment, State Patrol Trooper Travis Austin said.
It didn’t take much more than that for the heavy, fully loaded truck to roll into the ditch at a 45 degree angle against an embankment, Austin said.
Pederson, of Centerville, S.D., was wearing a seat belt and was uninjured.
