The search will continue today for a small, single-engine plane that disappeared after leaving Diamond Point Airport on Sunday.
Searchers on Wednesday, partially hampered by bad weather, found no signs of the missing 1948 Cessna 170.
Reports of wreckage spotted by search planes turned out to be garbage scattered on the ground, reported the state Department of Transportation Aviation Division, which is coordinating the search.
The plane carrying pilot David Verstrate of Federal Way and passenger Harold Bennett landed at Diamond Point on Sunday afternoon and later departed at about 4 p.m. to return to Auburn. A family member reported the aircraft missing when it never landed in Auburn.
Volunteers used more than 20 planes to search the Puget Sound area Tuesday and Wednesday, with their search based at Bremerton National Airport. No emergency locator transmitter or visible distress signals have been detected.
