PORT ANGELES — To mark Constitution Week, which ends today, members of Michael Trebert Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution have set up displays about the Constitution in public libraries in Port Angeles, Sequim and Forks.
In addition, the chapter sponsored a proclamation by the city of Port Angeles recognizing the significance of the Constitution in American civic life.
Constitution Week was celebrated from last Tuesday through today.
Goals for celebration
The celebration’s goals were threefold: to encourage the study of the historical events that led to the framing of the Constitution in September 1787; to remind the public that the Constitution is the basis of America’s heritage and the foundation for its way of life; and to emphasize U.S. citizens’ responsibility to protect, defend and preserve the U.S. Constitution, the Port Angeles chapter said.
