COYLE — A single-vehicle rollover wreck sent two people to the hospital Sunday evening.
A blue Toyota van was traveling north on Coyle Road at 5:15 p.m. when it hit a patch of ice, missed a corner and flipped into a ditch, according to Quilcene Fire Chief Larry Karp.
Crews arrived to find five people who had been in the vehicle, Karp said Monday.
Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Mark Apeland said Monday that the driver had fled the scene and has not yet been identified.
One passenger was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, a second was taken by ambulance to Harrison Medical Center in Silverdale and the three others declined treatment.
Information on the passengers’ identities was not available Monday. The wreck closed the road in both directions for 45 minutes.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident, according to Undersheriff Joe Nole.
