COVID-19 statistics

Seven new COVID-19 cases were reported on the North Olympic Peninsula on Tuesday, with five in Clallam County and two in Jefferson County.

That brought the numbers of cases up to 4,543 in Clallam County and to 1,055 in Jefferson County.

No new cases were confirmed by Tuesday at the Clallam Bay Corrections Center after 60 new cases were reported over the weekend.

“That’s very good news,” said Dr. Allison Berry, health officer for Clallam and Jefferson counties.

The case load at the Clallam Bay facility remained at 143 total cases, 17 of which were active on Friday. The Olympic Corrections Center near Forks has reported three cases.

Clallam County’s case rate was at 530 per 100,000 population for the past two weeks as of Tuesday, down from 553 per 100,000 reported Monday. The percent positivity for the past two weeks was 10.8. Six people were hospitalized, down from eight on Monday. The total deaths recorded in the county are 53, with no new deaths reported on Tuesday.

Jefferson County reported a case rate of 225.71 per 100,000, down from the amount reported Monday — 226 per 100,000 — which is among the lowest in the state. Percent positivity for the latest time period noted on the county website — the week of Sept. 23-Oct. 6 — is 5 percent. One person is in the hospital. Sixteen deaths have been reported, with no new deaths on Tuesday.
