PORT ANGELES — This week and next will probably be the peak time of the season for influenza, Clallam-Jefferson Health Officer Tom Locke told the Clallam County Board of Health on Tuesday.
All of Washington is now classified as having “widespread” reports of the virus.
Locke said he expects both Clallam and Jefferson counties to peak within the next couple of weeks.
The good news is that the flu has been at low levels for most of the state except for the Puget Sound region, Locke said.
The bad news is that the virus has shown high resistance to the older-style anti-viral drugs, Locke said.
Also, the virus that has been predominant has been a slight mismatch to the vaccine which was developed for this season.
