FORKS — When the Shelter Providers Network meets Wednesday in Forks, it will feature a public forum with District 3 Clallam County commissioner candidates.
Both the meeting, which will begin at 9 a.m., and the candidate forum, scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., are open to the public in the Forks Community Center, 91 Maple Ave.
Shelter providers meet in Forks each July to take a focused look at ending homelessness in the West End, said coordinator Martha Ireland.
“The West End commissioner seat is open this year and there are three contenders, so the group wanted a chance to learn their views on issues related to ending homelessness and providing housing that is affordable for all residents,” Ireland said.
All three candidates — Bill Peach, Bryon Monohon and Sissi Bruch — have committed to participate, she said.
Peach, a Republican living in Forks, is a retired forester and Quillayute Valley Parks and Recreation District commissioner. Monohon, mayor of Forks, filed as an independent. Bruch, a Democrat, is a Port Angeles City Council member.
