PORT ANGELES — Retired Clallam County Corrections Sgt. Matthew Blore will be recognized for his 16½ years of service Tuesday, Jail Superintendent Ron Sukert announced.
Corrections Deputy Luke Brown will be sworn in as a corrections sergeant Friday to replace Blore as a member of the management team at the 120-bed Clallam County jail.
‘Integral member’
Blore, whose last day was Saturday, was an “integral member” of the jail staff, Sukert said.
Blore arrived at the Sheriff’s Office after the closure of the Rayonier mill in Port Angeles, where he worked for “many years” in the pulp and paper manufacturing industry, Sukert said.
“During his time with the Sheriff’s Office, several of Matt’s many noteworthy accomplishments include his work as a Chain Gang officer during that program’s infancy and his promotion to the rank of sergeant in 2003,” Sukert said.
“In January of 2010, Matt was assigned as the corrections section administrative sergeant, where he excelled in his work and rounded out his career in public service.”
Blore will be formally recognized at the Clallam County commissioners’ meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the county courthouse.
The ceremony will be followed by a reception with refreshments in the Emergency Operations Center in the basement of the courthouse. Friends, family and well-wishers are invited to attend, Sukert said.
Brown will be sworn in as a corrections sergeant by Sheriff Bill Benedict at 10 a.m. Friday in the Emergency Operations Center.
A lifelong Clallam County resident, Brown graduated from Port Angeles High School in 2000. He earned an associate degree in criminal justice from Peninsula College in 2003 and joined the Sheriff’s Office the following year.
Brown has spent the past two years working as a corrections deputy and Chain Gang officer. He became the acting swing shift sergeant Jan. 1 and will continue to supervise the swing shift this year, Sukert said.
Brown lives in the Port Angeles area with his wife and three children.
