U.S. Rep. Norm Dicks, D-Belfair, the North Olympic Peninsula’s congressman, and U.S. Sens. Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell, Democrats from Shoreline and Mountlake Terrace, respectively, voted yes on a bill Thursday appropriating about $96 billion through Sept. 30 for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The bill also appropriates $17 billion for military health care and a variety of domestic programs, and $6.2 billion for non-military programs overseas.
And it raises the federal minimum wage from $5.15 per hour to $7.25 per hour over 26 months (still below the current Washington state minimum wage of $7.93 per hour).
This correction and additional information will appear in Sunday’s editions.
A story Friday on Page A3 incorrectly reported that Dicks voted against the bill.
