Contract renewed for Forks schools superintendent

FORKS — The Quillayute Valley School Board has added another year to Superintendent Diana Reaume’s contract.

Reaume, who was hired in 2007 to replace outgoing Superintendent Frank Walter, now has a contract valid for three years.

Although not present at the meeting where the board voted, chairman of the board Bill Rohde said Reaume had passed her evaluation with flying colors.

Those present voted for the contract extension unanimously.

“We really like what she has been doing,” Rohde said.

“We want to keep her around for a while.”

Reaume had been hired in 2006 as the district’s director of student services.

She makes $114,840 overseeing the $25 million budget and 167 employees.

No changes were made to the contract, Rohde said.

“As for a raise, she’ll get whatever state employees end up getting — if they get anything,” he said.

“Her contract is tied to that cost-of-living raise.”

In addition to overseeing the brick and mortars school, Reaume also oversees the Insight School of Washington, which has more than 1,500 students from throughout Washington.

The online high school is based at the Quillayute Valley School District.

She also will oversee the construction of a new high school.

The current high school will be demolished this summer. Construction is expected to be completed by fall 2011.

Voters in the Quillayute Valley School District approved an $11 million construction bond in February for the high school. District officials also expect to get about $7 million in state funding.
