CARLSBORG — Clallam County Public Utility District No. 1 has issued a stage 2 water alert for its Island View Water System.
A stage 2 alert encourages customers to conserve water and prepares them for the possibility of additional drought response measures.
The Island View Water System, which serves 32 accounts, is located about 10 miles west of Sekiu.
The system draws its water from Olsen Creek, which, based on streamflow data collected by the U.S. Geological Survey, will drop below 0.077 cubic feet per second within the next five weeks.
Island View is one of nine water systems operated by the district.
A stage 1 Forecast Alert has been issued for the Clallam Bay/Sekiu Water System.
Some voluntary conservation measures include:
• Reducing outdoor water use.
• Fixing leaky faucets and toilets.
• Taking shorter showers, not baths.
• Installing low-flow showerheads and faucets.
• Operating automatic dish and clothes washers only when full.
• Collecting water that is wasted while waiting for hot water to reach the faucet and using it to water plants.
• Using water-efficient appliances.

The district’s other systems — Fairview, Gales Addition, Monroe, Mount Angeles, Carlsborg, Evergreen and Panoramic Heights — are not under any current drought-response warnings.
