First prize winner — "Pictures don't do it justice."

First prize winner — "Pictures don't do it justice."

By Sugarplum Mary Chief Elf, Sweet Treats Division, Santa’s Workshop

THE THREE WINNERS of the Peninsula Daily News 2012 Holiday Lights Contest have been chosen, picked by our online voters — and all three are wonderfully spectacular:

First Prize — McMaster, 2006 W. 4th St., Port Angeles (“Lots of lights, lots of inflatables . . . big sock monkey, Santa coming out of an outhouse and more! Merry Christmas, everyone!”).

It drew these comments: “LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this house! You really must drive by, much better in person” and “Pictures don’t do it justice. It’s a must see.”

Second Prize — Dan and Laurie, 460 Guy Kelly Road, Port Angeles (“Lots of lights, blowmolds and blowups. A little way outside of town but well worth the drive. You will not be disappointed!”)

Third Prize — Osterberg Christmas, 1521 S. O St., Port Angeles.

“Our favorite display,” wrote one of the contest voters.

Other comments: “The very best display in town. A must see!” “Very, very pretty. Kent does such a wonderful job, and I know it is a lot of work. Beautiful.” “Best Christmas lights in PA. Great job, Kent!”

CONGRATULATIONS to the winners!

We’ll be contacting you about your gifts from our contest’s sponsors:

First place: $45 value bowling package at Laurel Lanes and $25 gift certificate at Fiesta Jalisco

Second place: Free oil change from Price Ford and $25 gift certificate from Blackberry Cafe

Third place: $25 gift cert from LD’s Woodfire Grill and $25 slot card from Elwha River Casino

Thank you to all who participated in this contest, and we can’t wait to see your delightful decorating skills in action next time around!

We loved all eight entries (we added one halfway through the contest after something went awry and it didn’t get into the original seven entries), but there had to be only three winners. Next year it may be you!

Be sure to check out all eight of this year’s creative Christmas light shows at http://pdn.upickem.net/engine/Welcome.aspx?contestid=76884 (click on “View Entries”).

Everyone is also encouraged to drive around this Christmas to view the many excellent displays of Christmas lights.

Lights blaze from end of the North Olympic Peninsula to the other — see our story and photos today, “Communities bring illumination to night with holiday displays,” in the weekend print edition of the Peninsula Daily News and at https://giftsnap.shop/article/20121221/NEWS/312219999.
