FIRST PLACE (Kids) — 'Queen Sophie'

By EDWARD CULLEN Peninsula Daily News Assistant Forks Correspondent

THE THREE WINNERS in each category of our Halloween Costume Contest — Kids and Adults — have been chosen, picked by online voters.

And all the winners are monstrously spectacular:

KIDS

First Prize — “Queen Sophia,” by Kristie Deese of Forks.

Second Place — “Bridget 2014 Halloween,” by Janine Ordona of Port Angeles.

Third Place — “Day of the Dead,” by Jennifer Petty of Port Angeles.

ADULTS

First Prize — “Incredible Family,” by Melisa Cooter of Port Angeles.

Second Place — “Merrill & Ring Scrabble Pieces,” by Sherry Hull at Merrill & Ring in Port Angeles.

Third Place — “Fortune Cookie Queen,” by Amy Blevins of Port Angeles.

The contest was hosted by the three newspapers of the North Olympic Peninsula — Peninsula Daily News, Sequim Gazette and Forks Forum.

CONGRATULATIONS to our winners!

Our prizemeister, Vivian Hansen (360-452-2345, ext. 3058; vhansen@peninsuladailynews.com), will be in contact with you.

We have gifts for our six winners from our contest’s spooktacular sponsors — Elwha River Casino ($25 slot card), First Federal ($25 in Port Angeles Downtown Dollars), Bedford’s Soda (an entire case of its root beer) and $25 gift certificates from William Shore Memorial Pool, Fiesta Jalisco Mexican Restaurant and Domino’s Pizza.

THANK YOU to all who participated in this contest.

Be sure to check out all 50 of this year’s creative, spooky and borderline politically correct costumes at: http://assets.peninsuladailynews.com/images/upickem/halloween2014/halloween2014.php?landing (click on each contest category, then “View Entries”).

We can’t wait to see your new costumes next year!
