PORT ANGELES — The Clallam County Sheriff’s Office has released a sketch of one of two men who allegedly attacked a woman who was jogging with her dog on the Olympic Discovery Trail just east of Port Angeles on April 15.
The person in the sketch is described as a white male in his mid-to-late 20s who is about 6-feet tall. He was clean shaven and was wearing a white baseball cap with a black bill at the time of the alleged assault.
“The suspect may be associated with a silver four-door passenger car,” Chief Criminal Deputy Brian King said.
The second man was described as being about 5-foot-8, clean shaven and also between 25 and 30 years old.
The 34-year-old jogger was east of the Ennis Creek parking lot and trailhead — the former Rayonier mill site — when she was grabbed from behind by one of the two men at about 8:30 a.m. April 15.
Investigators said the woman incapacitated the first attacker and was tackled by the second man. The woman fought free and fled to the safety of others on the beach.
Deputies followed up on several tips after the incident but no arrests had been made.
“Every little lead we had has gone cold,” King said in a Friday interview.
The Sheriff’s Office had received more tips since disseminating the sketch late Thursday, King said.
The tips have revitalized the investigation, King said.

A group of nearly 100 women jogged and walked the trail last Sunday morning — exactly two weeks after the assault — to send a message that the trail belongs to the public in the “Run Without Fear.”
