PORT HADLOCK — Plans for a proposed environmentally friendly master planned resort near Brinnon were explained in detail Wednesday at a joint meeting of Jefferson County commissioners and Planning Commission members.
About 60 residents attended the meeting at the Washington State University Learning Center in Port Hadlock to get the scoop on the 252-acre resort being considered by county planners.
“Preserving the environment is first and foremost for the project,” said Susan Rants, a consultant with Bothell-based W & H Pacific, which is working with Canada-based developer The Statesman Group.
The Statesman Group, which owns resorts in British Columbia and Arizona, was unable to send a representative to Wednesday’s meeting.
The meeting is a necessary step for the site to obtain official status as a master planned resort, which allows for greater density.
Black Point development
The site, called Pleasant Harbor Marina and Golf Resort, will be located at Black Point, an area south of Brinnon.
The resort will consist of a marina with 290 slips, a maritime village with about 180 units and a 10,000-square-foot commercial village that will replace current facilities.
An 18-hole golf course and about 1,090 residential units designed to serve guests also are incorporated in the plan.
“There will be no permanent residents on site,” said Rants.
