PORT ANGELES — A Coast Guard Air Station Port Angeles MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew rescued three people from a 40-foot dingy when it began taking on water and sank 2 miles south of Victoria in the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
A woman and two teenage girls had departed from Seattle on Friday, according to Petty Officer Steve Strohmaier of the Coast Guard’s 13th District on Sunday.
A helicopter crew from Port Angeles was already airborne and made one pass over the area before returning briefly to Port Angeles to refuel and returning to hoist the three from the dingy, Strohmaier said.
