PORT LUDLOW — A Coast Guard crew has rescued three adults and two children off a sailboat in trouble near Port Ludlow.
The boat is still adrift off shore.
Bad weather got the 34-foot Slacker Jack in trouble about two miles off shore on Saturday morning.
The Coast Guard said the Slacker Jack was taking on water when its cutter Terrapin arrived.
“Crewmembers aboard Terrapin deemed that towing the vessel was unsafe and transferred all the Slacker Jack’s passengers aboard the Terrapin,” the Coast Guard said in a statement today (Sunday).
“They were taken to Port Ludlow, where EMS was waiting for them.”
The Coast Guard said the rescued sailors — who were not identified — were examined and released by the Jefferson County EMS crew, and their sailboat was still adrift.
The Coast Guard said there was no threat of pollution from the boat.
“[Coast Guard] Sector Puget Sound recorded the position of the vessel and issued a broadcast notice to mariners of the navigational hazard,” the statement said.
