PORT ANGELES — The Coast Guard has pulled over a 587-foot cargo vessel, ordering it to remain at anchor at Port Angeles while the ship’s master is investigated for intoxication.
The Coast Guard ordered the cargo vessel STX Daisy to remain at anchor after a routine boarding of the ship in the Strait of Juan de Fuca early today.
The Coast Guard said in a prepared statement that the vessel’s master showed signs of intoxication.
The STX Daisy, a Panamanian flagged vessel, was en route to Olympia from Qingdao, China, to load timber, the Coast Guard said.
The U. S. Attorney’s office is investigating the incident for evidence of a possible violation of U.S. law, the Coast Guard said.
