OLYMPIC NATIONAL PARK — Get out your snowboards, dust off your skis and blow up those tubes.
The winter season is almost here.
With snow already accumulating in the mountains, Olympic National Park officials at Hurricane Ridge are gearing up for a fun-filled winter season beginning later this month.
For now, the windy 17-mile road to the Ridge is open only halfway — to the Tunnels parking area — due to snowfall and rocks and tree limbs on the road.
Several inches of snow have fallen in recent days, with accumulations up to a foot.
Park officials are not sure if the road would be fully open by this weekend.
However, maintenance crews are scheduled to begin plowing and working to clear debris.
Unless there’s bad weather, Hurricane Ridge Road will open officially Friday, Nov. 22, for the winter season.
