PORT ANGELES — Two of three Clallam County community development director candidates went head to head Tuesday night over a wide range of hot-button issues, including private property rights, the quality of the department’s customer service and the county sign code.
Current Director of Community Development Bob Martin, who is now seeking election to the office he has held for eight years as an appointed county department head, and challenger Rob Robertsen, a former county building official and fire marshal, answered questions raised by a panel of journalists during a forum taped before an audience at City Hall.
The forum was sponsored by the PDN and Peninsula News Network, which broadcasts on Wave Broadband cable channel 3.
The hour-long forum will be broadcast tonight at 7 on the channel in Port Angeles, Sequim and Carlsborg.
The third candidate in the race, John H. Miller, executive director of the Lower Elwha tribe in Port Angeles, was on vacation and did not attend.
Journalists questioning the candidates were Rex Wilson and Paul Gottlieb of the PDN and Dennis Bragg of PNN.
