Clallam Transit today launches new bus service that transit officials say are designed to reduce or cut unproductive routes, add or supplement high-demand service and renew former holiday service.
Service improvements are:
* New holiday service on Veterans Day and the day after Thanksgiving in Port Angeles, Sequim-Dungeness Valley and Forks-West End.
* Expanded Saturday service hours for four Port Angeles routes and Highway 101 commuter routes 20, 22, 24, 26 and 30. New hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
* Two new weekday mid-day commuter runs from Port Angeles to Sequim at 12:40 p.m. and 1:40 p.m. via Route No. 30.
* A new 7:40 a.m. weekday trip to allow everyone in Clallam County service from downtown Port Angeles at Oak Street to the college prior to 8 a.m. (Route 20). The route offsets elimination of the college connection from service because of low ridership and route duplication.
* Two new weekday mid-day commuter runs at 1:23 p.m. and 2:23 p.m. from Sequim to Port Angeles.
* Additional hours to rural dial-a-ride services. Hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
* Expanded Saturday hours in Sequim-Dungeness Valley.
* New Saturday shuttle service in Forks and the West End (Route 17). Hours are 10:30 a.m. to 4:40 p.m.
* Revised weekday night departures from Port Angeles to Forks. All include direct services by Peninsula College (Route 14).
* Revised Saturday morning departure from Forks to LaPush (Route 15).
New transit schedules are available at all schedule outlets and on all Clallam Transit System buses.

Public comment was solicited from Clallam County residents on the service improvements proposal last year.
