FORKS — Clallam Transit System’s Board of Directors will schedule hearings on proposed reductions in paratransit service when they meet at 1 p.m. today in the City Council chambers at Forks City Hall, 500 E. Division St.
The board will authorize legal notices to advertise hearings at Clallam Transit’s board meetings July 18 at the Sequim Transit Center, Aug. 15 at the system’s headquarters, 830 W. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles, and Sept. 19 at Forks City Hall.
Other items on today’s agenda include a letter of commendation to operator Steve Waugaman, consideration of citizen-elector recommendations for the board’s administration and finance committee, award of a contract for radio equipment, and an update on Clallam Transit’s 25th anniversary celebration.
The paratransit cutbacks were proposed by a consultant to an advisory committee that was charged with continuing service in the face of rising fuel costs, threatened loss of Medicaid support, and an aging population.
