PORT ANGELES — The Clallam County Sheriff’s Office has launched an online reporting website for certain types of non-emergency crimes.
The types of incidents include vehicle prowl, code violations, animal complaints, harassing phone calls, hit and run collisions, lost property, traffic complaints, vandalism and theft when a deputy would not physically respond to the location.
If citizens are reporting a crime in progress or have suspect information, call 9-1-1 so a deputy can be immediately assigned.
The online reporting tool is available on the front page of the sheriff’s office website, www.clallamcountywa.gov/497/sheriff.
The platform also will support anonymous tips via the “crime tips” option. The sheriff’s office will utilize this new program to capture tips and will phase out the previous tip line in the coming months.
Some types of incidents are reported so a case report can be generated for insurance purposes. Filing a report through this platform will provide a case number and a report much faster, the sheriff’s office said. One the report is approved, citizens will receive a link in their email with the report with a case number affixed.
Online reporting is optional, the sheriff’s office said. Concealed pistol licenses also can be applied for and renewed via the online portal by selecting the tab titled firearms.
