PORT ANGELES — Amy Bundy has been sworn in by Sheriff Bill Benedict as the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office’s newest field deputy.
Her appointment fills a position vacated by the retirement of Jef Boyd on July 1.
Bundy is a former Blaine police officer who moved to Clallam County in 2012 to be closer to family.
Besides patrol duties, she comes to the Sheriff’s Office with experience in child interviews and child crime investigations, as well as sex offender cases.
She is fluent in Spanish.
She also has experience as a corrections officer with Whatcom County and was a corrections officer for Juvenile Corrections in Clallam County before she was hired as a deputy.
Bundy is a 2009 graduate of the Washington State Basic Police Academy, the same academy newly hired deputies are required to attend.
She also has a bachelor’s degree from Western Washington University.
Bundy will start with a field training program, where she will ride with experienced Clallam County deputies so she can learn the area, policies and procedures, and more.
Bundy ultimately will be assigned to the patrol section in the Port Angeles and Sequim areas.
