Clallam PUD trolling Seattle job fair for candidates

PORT ANGELES — The Clallam County Public Utility District isn’t immune to the recruiting difficulties that have affected other North Olympic Peninsula employers.

With seven positions open, including the treasurer/controller position currently held by General Manager Shelley Burgett, the district is looking across the water — to Seattle.

Clallam Public Utility District commissioners approved spending $2,495 for two district employees to attend the NWJobs.com Job Expo from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Seattle Center.

Utility district Human Resources Manager Judi Chapman said the job fair attracts as many as 1,000 people with jobs divided into professional/general, engineering and health care.

The district will use the job fair to develop a short list of candidates to interview for its seven open positions, she said.

They include water and wastewater assistant systems superintendent ($4,575 to $6,535 a month), electrical engineer ($4,347 to $6,212 a month), information services manager ($5,285 to $7,551 a month) and treasurer/controller ($7,083 to $8,333 per month).

Open jobs also include public relations manager, operations superintendent and substation and meter technician, for which no salary ranges yet are available.

Chapman said the district’s job listings will be available next week on a new section of the Web site www.clallampud.net/jobs.
