Clallam PUD switching over to new online bill payment system today

CARLSBORG — Clallam County Public Utility District will transition to a new online bill payment system called SmartHub starting today at 5 p.m.

Customers will need to re-register their online account and re-enter their auto-payment method as a result of the change, according to a news release. The new system will also lead to a change in PUD office hours.

The current PUD debit/credit card payment system, including autopay, will end at 5 p.m. today.

The PUD will not accept debit or credit card payments from 5 p.m. today through 7:59 a.m. Monday.

Beginning at 8 a.m. Monday, the PUD will again take credit/debit card payments.

Also after 8 a.m. Monday, customers can go to the PUD website at www.clallampud.net and look for the SmartHub link to re-enroll with either a credit/debit card or savings/checking account.

SmartHub users will still be able to view bills, sign up for paperless billing and use their debit or credit card for autopay or to make one-time payments.

Additional SmartHub features include a smartphone app for accessing accounts, autopay or one-time payments from checking/savings accounts, viewing all of a customer’s PUD accounts, and viewing usage and payment history.

When customers sign up for paperless billing and enroll in autopay before Dec. 31 using either a debit/credit card or a checking/savings account, their account will receive a one-time $5 bill credit and be entered for a chance to win an iPad Mini.

In order to accommodate the new software upgrades, PUD customer office hours will permanently change.

Effective Monday, customer office hours will be 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. The only exception is the Sekiu office, which will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The payment offices at the Co-op Farm and Garden in Sequim and Country Aire Natural Foods in Port Angeles, as well as the Sekiu office, will be closed Monday and next Tuesday for the transition over to a new software platform. The main office in Carlsborg and the Forks office will be open on those dates.

Customers will also see a new bill format starting this month. A sample of the new format can be found by visiting http://tinyurl.com/PDN-NewBill and clicking the link at the bottom of the page.
