Clallam County Public Utility District ratepayers soon will be able to pay their monthly bills with their credit cards following the utility commissioners’ approval of a $49,500 contract with Utility Solutions billing system.
PUD Treasurer Shelley Burgett said she was comfortable with the proposal and how it would fit into the utility’s billing system. Utility customers already can pay by electronic funds transfer.
Policies will be established limiting who at the utility has access to customers’ account numbers and how those numbers will be handled to protect customer privacy.
“This is something our customers have been asking for for some time,” Commissioner Will Purser said.
